Kenyan Officer Samuel Kitwai Killed During an Operation in Artibonite

Kenyan officer Samuel Kitwai of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) was killed on Sunday, February 23, 2025, during an operation in Ségur-Savien, in the Lower Artibonite region.

According to an official statement from the MSS, Officer Kitwai was seriously wounded and was airlifted to a Level 2 hospital in Aspen, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The operation, carried out jointly by the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the MSS with the support of the local population, aimed to weaken the Gran Grif gang controlling the area. Several gang members were reportedly neutralized in the exchange of gunfire with security forces.
